Hi there
Time for some Wednesday Wisdom.
Just a reminder that the summary is posted at the beginning, so if you need a quick overview, it is there. The expanded wisdom and knowledge are in the detailed breakdown, and I encourage you to take a breath at some point and read it. Time is a consideration, sure, but your understanding and soul are important too. The process of the reading, when I do it, is to do the individual cards first, then bring them together, so that would be the ideal way to look at this.
Overall Summary
Righty oh! Let’s get to it.
Our main focus for the week is acknowledging benefaction, in other words, giving and receiving.
Charitable actions are often seen as virtues and blessings; this can be true, but we need to be aware of the more hidden aspects of this cycle.
As with all truly divine thoughts and processes, the fear-based reality we live in has corrupted the process to one of control and manipulation.
It is important to remember that the flow of abundance is a cycle. It has ups and downs, and we need to be equally comfortable in giving and receiving. More about this below.
So when it comes to giving and receiving, we need to do it with an open heart, without expectation of reward!
When we have a glass of water, and give everyone a sip, it will come a time when our glass is empty. The concept of benefaction or charity refers more to putting the glass under a tap, and allowing it to overflow naturally, without force, or coercion.
This card here is also about being more aware of the impact of our benefaction on ourselves and others too. Making it an act of unconditional love not duty or expectation.
So what helps and supports this? As above, we need to keep our own cups full first, so working with gratitude – remember the gratitude journal? List 5 things every night you are grateful for – remember they must have the feeling of gratitude when you think about them. Spend some time in that feeling. You may not repeat any of them for 21 days! New ones every day!
Remember our emotional guidance system is never wrong. Call it intuition, call it guidance, call it feelings, whatever works for you. If it feels “bad” doing a “good” action, the action isn’t the best action you can be performing. Doing things out of duty is forced, doing them out of love is not. Remember, doing something out of love is not motivated by a sense of someone being worse off than you, this is judgement.
Grounding this into our reality can be done by remembering the past experiences of joy and love, and rediscovering our playfulness and joy of living.
The big thing here is, if it brings joy within yourself, unconnected to others’ behaviour, it is a beneficial action; if it feels heavy, unpleasant etc, it is not.
Have a blessed week!!
Card by card explanation
Central energy focus
The StJinx Arcana: 6 of Pentacles: Acknowledging Benefaction:
charity, community, sharing resources, giving and receiving, gratitude, generosity, debt, hoarding, self-serving, shame, regret.
As with everything in our physical universe, there are always two sides to every story and two aspects to be aware of.
This week’s central focus is one of those things. The 6 of Pentacles is often seen as the card of charity from a bountiful place. In other words, becoming aware of your own bounty and allowing it to flow naturally to others.
There are a few things to look at here. Firstly, becoming aware of your own bounty. How do you perceive bounty? Is it financial, spiritual, emotional or all of the above?
One of the “universal laws” that is evident all around us, all the time, is that everything has a cycle and moves within cycles. It is one of the pillars of our reality that holds up our experience. For us to have the human experience, there needs to be a sense of progression to add value to the experience. This progression manifests in the cycles around us.
There are the obvious cycles, of course, ones we have no control over, that are fixed in the reality of our experience in order for the reality to exist. Without these cycles, our reality would crumble into dust and the whole reason for the creation, i.e. the discovery, expression and experience of our divinity, disintegrates.
These cycles often run through, around and on top of each other, sometimes apparently even in conflict, but that is all part of the experience. It is up to us to use these experiences and cycles to experience the best we are able to at any given moment.
Charity, or benefaction is another one of these cycles. This is a big one because there are many misunderstandings and corruptions of the word and experience of charity.
In the popular view, supported by the three Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Islam and Christianity), it is seen as a sign of “holiness” and “piety”. Of course, the “within reason” aspect is often forgotten, and the negative aspects of irresponsible charity are often hidden away.
Giving and receiving will keep energy flowing and, with regard to manifestation, send a statement of abundance and plenty, all good things. It can also improve your environment and community.
It is important to remember that asking and accepting gracefully and gratefully is just as important as sharing with others – it is a cycle that needs reciprocation to move and expand. Only giving or only receiving blocks the flow of the cycle.
Organisations, particularly religious ones, make the act of giving, whether you are able to or not, a virtue. My favourite misrepresentation here, particularly in the religious context, is that you will receive your reward in “heaven”, or the karmic cycle will reciprocate by giving you a better life next time round, once you die of course – a very convenient concept, removing all responsibility or acceptance of reciprocation, thus keeping us stuck in a one-way, destructive flow.
Everything in our reality, is an exchange of energy. It is your responsibility as the giver, to give what you can, trusting that the flow will flow. As the receiver it is your responsibility to take what you have been given and to grow, nurture, use it to improve, not only your experience, but the experience of others too.
Charity begins at home, so they say, so your first focus is yourself, then your immediate family, then your community, expanding outwards.
When you give, you give with an open heart, knowing the flow will come in as well as it goes out.
Hoarding is based in fear of lack, so allow it to flow.
The corruption of benefaction is important to mention here. Do you feel like a failure when you need help?
When someone offers you something, do you feel indebted to them? Are you giving out of “duty”, knowing that the giving is making the other dependent? Does the giving give you a sense of power and control, or the receiving make you indebted to the giver?
This is an unbalanced and destructive view of benefaction and is used by narcissistic people and organisations to manipulate and control.
As we grow from childhood to adulthood, the balance shifts. It is important to remember here, that our mental and emotional growth is not dependent on the passing of years, and we can have the mental or emotional level of a two year old (throwing tantrums when we don’t get what we want, demanding our needs be met regardless of the impact on others etc.) at a physically mature age too – just look around you!
When we are born, we are dependent on our environment (Youth or Maiden archetype), as we grow, this dependence lessens. A mature adult then becomes the provider for a period (The Father or Mother archetype), then the teacher and sharer of knowledge and wisdom (The Sage or Crone archetype).
This cycle has become corrupted in the last while, resulting in an entitled, arrogant, demanding younger generation, depleting an older generation, who are discarded once their “usefulness” as a source has been drained.
What is supporting this process, what processes can we use to help us here?
Quantum Oracle: Great Gratitude: Enthusiasm for life
As we have discussed before, gratitude is a powerful tool, maybe the most powerful tool, in creating a life you love to live.
By appreciating what you do have, the beauty around you, you change your perception and energy. This changes the incoming energy, and so the cycle continues.
It is important to be grateful for the trials and joys of your life. You wouldn’t be who you are without every breath, every decision, every choice and every experience you have had up to this point.
By experiencing unwanted or unexpected outcomes, you wouldn’t have a basis for ctreating different ones would you. As Abraham & Esther Hicks say, you need to know what you don’t want to be able to decide what you do want. So embrace those processes too.
When it comes to gratitude it also helps to expand that gratitude to include others who have succeeded, be happy for your “rivals” success, don’t gloat over their failures.
Remember that every bit of energy and thought that goes into your experience is what you are creating tomorrow with. Change your focus from beating others, to being the best you can be, understanding that if you produce an unexpected result, this just gives you an opportunity to make different choices.
The Teachings of Abraham Well-being Cards: Every emotion I feel is guidance from my adoring inner being.
Our emotions are always our best guide for what is truly going on in our experience.
If you feel bad, even when you are doing “good”, then don’t do it. Simple.
When we overthink and overanalyse things, it gets confusing. Feel it and go with that.
The better we feel, the more aligned we are, the worse we feel, the more we are removed from our alignment. Simple really!
How can we ground this learning into our experience and move forward?
The Psychic Tarot: Memories of Love
We have repeatedly discussed that looking to the past can be a trap and does not necessarily define who you are now. This is true, however, the past can be a valuable reference point.
While the past can be a place where we see our unexpected results, pain, and sufferings, it can also be a reminder of love, joy and peace too.
It is important in both cases not to stay stuck there. This card reminds us that love and joy are possible, and we can experience them.
Remember the “positive” aspects of the past too, don’t dwell on them, but let them inspire and motivate you when things get difficult.
Divine Nature Oracle Deck: Twirl:
Well now, look at that! A card of joyful abandon and exuberance.
This card reminds us to play, to twirl, to drop our responsibilities for a moment.
Prioritise play, do an art class, dance in the woods and make playtime a part of every day. This, along with gratitude, will change your vibration and give you the strength and motivation to handle your more tiresome experiences.
The Desiderata
By Max Ehrmann ©1927
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
