Hi there – time for some Wednesday wisdom – thank you to everyone who commented and asked questions last week! Feedback is really useful, so if you have a comment or question, please let me know.
This is the 8th week of Wednesday Wisdom, and over time I have noticed that the central card (from the StJinx Arcana), kinda sets the scene and creates the energy signature for the week, so I am going to change the order I read the cards. I will start with the central card or theme, then go on to the explanations of the supporting cards both in the summary and in the individual card interpretations.
With out any more ado – let’s get on with the reading for this week.

In summary: The central card – the 8 of Swords shows a man blindfolded, tied up and trapped with swords all around him. It appears as if he is stuck and can’t find his way out of the situation. If you look closer though, you will notice that behind him, there is a space in the sword “cage”, if he takes a breath, and relaxes a bit, he can cut the ropes on the swords surrounding him, remove his blindfold, and step through the gap towards the “home on the hill” behind him. There is still a bit of a way to go, but he can resume his journey in safety.
This is one of my favourite cards in the deck, for me it indicates that I am not as trapped as I think I am, and the situation is not as hopeless as I think it is. If I just take a breath and relax a minute, I will be able to look around me and find my way out of the situation. When we are in “panic mode”, we can’t think clearly and our creativity is stifled, by “taking a minute”, we can often see things clearer.
The two cards supporting the central card, strengthen the message by telling us that there is a positive movement forward, even if we are not able to see it yet, and we can safely relax into the feeling of well-being and peace, knowing we will be fine and see the solution and way forward clearly soon.
On the outer edges of the reading “grounding” the reading, we have Hidden Motivations, and Joy and Stability. I am not one to recommend “dancing among the daisies” and ignoring the reality of life, there are always various options and scenarios possible and present in each situation, and how we experience the situation depends on our choices in each moment.
The card of Hidden Motivations reminds us that each person has their own reasons for doing things, and sometimes these reasons may clash with ours – this is how it should be. Relax, you are on stable ground and can experience joy in the situation. Hidden Motivations have a way of coming out, so be patient and aware and the truth will show itself.
These hidden motivations may also be within ourselves. Very often when we have a goal or objective in mind, we forget that every aspect of our being goes into the manifestation of the goal or objective. This means that your hidden fears, your negative self-talk, and your lack of belief in your power form part of the manifestation too. This is why our manifestations often don’t work or are not as successful as we may expect them to be. It may be a good idea this week, to look inside and see if there are any niggling fears and beliefs that may need to be handled.
This card reminds us that there are hidden motivations within the coming week, perhaps even in ourselves. Time to do a bit of “soul-searching” and healing perhaps? The balance of the card of Joy and stability, lets us know that accepting things without judgement and trusting our own strength, power and truth maybe the best way to handle things this week.
The reminder of the Joy and Stability card is also to change our focus and remember gratitude and appreciation for what we do have without getting too attached to it. Change what you focus on, and what is available to focus on changes.
Have a blessed week – hug a tree, walk barefoot on the grass, and let the negativity and fear disperse. Hug the person/people with hidden intentions – maybe they will trust you with their truth.

The StJinx Arcana: Eight of Swords
Interesting, the 8 of Wands was around last week, and this week we have the 8 of swords. In numerology the number eight represents abundance, prosperity and success.
Looking at this card, there maybe some doubts as the situation looks quite dire doesn’t it?
This reminds me of the more hidden aspect of the number 8 – it is also the sign of infinity turned on its side. The symbol of infinity highlights the endless cycle of increase and decrease, chaos and harmony.
You may feel that at the moment there is no way out of your situation, you can’t see the next step. There may be a bit of panic involved too – you can’t go back in time and change things so what do you do?
Know that everything moves forward – always, you are never 100% trapped, and it is up to you to decide where to go from here.
You are blinded by your own fear and self-doubt at the moment. Take a breath and list the 5 most successful scrapes you have come through, remind yourself that you have a choice, take a pause and look around, behind, above and below you – there may be a solution you cannot see – or one that seems implausible from your current perspective. Once you get out of panic and calm yourself, you will be able to think clearly and make a plan to change the unexpected result you have manifested.
You ALWAYS have the power to change things, look at things from a different perspective, change your focus and remind yourself of your successes to help give you the clarity of thought to get yourself out of this.
Remember it is NEVER about what is done to you by the world outside, it is ALWAYS about how you respond and interpret things from inside yourself.
The Psychic Tarot: Positive Movement Forward
It may not seem like it at the moment but there is a positive movement happening. Sometimes it is important to go through things that may not be your ideal, but it can give you the experience to embrace the ideal when it comes. Take the situation now and see it as a step towards your goal.
Another 8 here promises abundance and prosperity in the physical suit of the deck, this indicates this abundance will present in your physical environment. Often the card of the artisan or craftsman, keep honing your craft, use your experience to expand your awareness and skills. This will ensure your long-term success.
The Teachings of Abraham Well-being Cards
I can relax into my natural Well-being: Our “natural” state is one of well-being. We tend to forget this and see well-being as an exception rather than the rule. This card reminds us that the essence of our thoughts is constantly running through our lives, and that the content of thought is indicated and reflected in our environment.
Make a choice today to focus on things you appreciate and are grateful for. This will help you to relax and allow the flow through your life rather than obstruct and block it with fear.
Yes, fear of the world we live in is very “real” but it is only one aspect of the world we live in, and the more you focus on being grateful, safe and secure, the more you will see that reflected in your environment.
Quantum Oracle: Hidden Motivations.
In this card, the woman is standing with all her dreams and aspirations held in her heart. Behind her is a mysterious dark curtain hiding something.
There are two aspects to this card. Firstly, in the outside world there may be a situation that you do not have a clear picture of, be patient and give it a bit of time – don’t allow yourself to be pressured, there is more to the situation than what is clear to you now.
Secondly, this card reminds us that often we have hidden pain and wounds, secret fears that we even hide from ourselves. These hidden aspects could be what is blocking or hindering your movement forward. They could be based on past hurts, self-doubt, or doubt in the general way things work, in god or the universe or whatever term is more relatable to you.
Maybe take out your journal, and “mind-dump” about these hidden motivations. Some prompts:
- What hidden wound is blocking the process here?
- Why is this not flowing?
- How can I see the secrets of my soul?

Psychic Tarot of the Heart: Joy & Stability
Traditional Card: 4 of Wands: This card reminds us to consciously seek and experience joy in our experience. As mentioned above, the natural flow of our experience is well-being. If we are not experiencing that well-being, that is a choice or a wound within ourselves that needs attention.
To the more “practically minded” this sounds like “naivety” or “wishful thinking”. I can promise you from my own experience it is not at all.
Our brains process 40 billion bits of information a second – we are only aware of about 2,000. The rest is “filtered out” by our “consciousness filter”. This filter is created by our “agreements” with reality, our wounds and fears all form part of this too.
This is why it is important to consciously focus on things like gratitude and appreciation. When we do this, it helps to re-program the filter, and so we see an improved outlook.
An important misconception here is that we change the world around us by changing our thoughts – while it appears to be true, what is actually happening is that we are shifting our energy field so we no longer see fear-inducing things happening, and they no longer see us either, much like changing a channel on a radio or tv or moving from one social network to another.
We can actually see this demonstrated very clearly on our social media feeds. If a friend sends you an article or post you would not normally find yourself, suddenly your feed starts drawing in similar content and you end up “going down the rabbit hole” so to speak.
Same situation here, by changing your focus, you change your feed – simple really.
The World Is Too Much With Us
By William Wordsworth
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;—
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not. Great God! I’d rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathèd horn.
